This combo shows the eclipse in its initial stages, in maximum and in its final stages as viewed from villimale, MALDIVES, during the annular solar eclipse on January 15, 2010. The spectacle, visible in a roughly 300-kilometre (185-mile) band running 12,900 kms (8,062 miles) across the globe, set a record for the longest annular eclipse at one point that will remain unbeaten for more than a thousand years.
