Ted Williams Batting Average Chart - National Baseball Hall of Fame

Ted Williams, widely accepted as the greatest student of hitting, created this display to remind himself about selecting good pitches to hit. Each area has color-coded baseballs that are labeled with what he believed his average to be for pitches in that location. Decades later, baseball commentators and produces regularly use similar diagrams to discuss a hitter's ability.
