In May 2009, DFID made a £550,000 grant to the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) to construct temporary shelters and improve water and sanitation conditions in the IDP camps in Vavuniya. The grant also included funding for UNOPS to provide transitional shelters for IDPs returning from the camps to the Manthai West district. These images from UNOPS show how the construction of adequate shelter is making a difference to the lives and living conditions of displaced people.
