Thulagi glacier, Manang Range, Nepal

The Thulagi glacier, located south-west of Mount Manaslu, in the Manang mountain range in the Himalayas, is slowly melting, transforming from ice into a lake of water.

Ngamindra Dahal, from the National Trust for Nature Conservation (Nepal), says: “Everything has changed in the past two decades. What used to be covered by snow and ice is now covered with trees and black rock. We are very surprised by the changes that we are seeing - in some ways it feels unstoppable. Action must be taken at Copenhagen to protect these mountains.”
