Tree of Life sculpture
The Tree of Life sculpture in Maputo's peace park at sunset in 2005 before it gets shipped over to the UK. The sculpture commissioned by the British Museum and Christian Aid was created by Mozambican artists out of decommissioned guns. Local people are encouraged to hand in weapons in exchange of tools for making a living such as sewing machines. The guns are broken down into pieces and local artists make sculptures out of them to promote the Transforming Arts into Tools project run by the Christian Council of Mozambique.
