A pair of Bald Eagles at the Detroit Zoo on a warm late October day. The Bald Eagle was adopted as a symbol for the United States on June 20, 1782. These two eagles wings were damaged in the wild and were unable to fly, and were then adopted by the zoo. You don't believe how large these birds are until you're almost standing next to them.
