This man is the keeper of the two-story high image of the seated Buddha, which is the biggest metal statue in Ladakh, that King Deldon Namgyal got constructed in 1655, in the memory of his father.
This place is the castle of the first king of Ladakh and of successive dharmarajas.
When I took this picture he was standing in front of the sacred copper-gilt statue.
We were alone, it was before sunset, an amazing light was coming from a little window, he gifted me with this smile.
A frozen wind was blowing from outside.
I was showing him the portraits on my camera but I am not sure that he could see well.
When I left the temple he followed me and locked the door.
