The Racetrack ~ Death Valley National Park
• The Racetrack: Rocks mysteriously
slide across the dry lakebed
of the Racetrack, leaving behind
long tracks for visitors to ponder.
This is my humble attempt at photography at the Racetrack. This is a handheld shot, wind gusting at I don't even know how many miles per hours except I was being pushed along by it, and the sand in the air hurt as it blasted against my skin.
We drove a terrible 26-mile dirt road to reach the Racetrack (both ways), but it was well worth it. We came around a corner and in the distance we saw a surreal landscape...the playa, one of the most flat yet natural occurring features on the planet surrounded by black rock formations.
Death Valley is an amazing place...well worth a visit!
