Toothpick Cactus-Stetsonia coryne

August 1, 2012

Toothpick Cactus (Stetsonia coryne)-A large, candelabra-like cactus with long spines that resemble toothpicks. This cactus is reported to be grown as a living fence in its native habitat of South America. It does extremely well in low-desert areas of Arizona as it is drought tolerant and can endure full sun locations. The fruits are also edible. Look for Toothpick Cactus throughout the Garden’s Trails.
