DBG - Red Hop Bush-Dodonaea microzyga fruits

Desert Botanical Garden (DBG) – Amy Walker reporting
The Harriet K. Maxwell Desert Wildflower Loop Trail at the Garden still looks beautiful with waves of yellow Brittlebush and colorful Penstemon. But the real treats are with the cactus; the Hedgehog, Mammillaria and Prickly-pear are just starting to bloom and can be found in a plethora colors – yellow, cream, orange, pink, magenta! The Yuccas are starting to bloom and you can still find plenty of Aloes showing off their many shades of yellow and orange. In addition, a nice surprise can be found on the main trail just as you pass the Steele Herb Garden as the both Hop Bushes (Dodonaea microzyga) & (Dodonaea viscosa) are producing red and chartreuse fruits. Still a great time to visit the Garden!
