Calmness in black and white
Our first day of hiking in Glacier National Park was just a short 10km/7mi hike in some dull weather. It was actually quite sunny but the wildfires just a few kilometers south of this spot within the park were causing a rather hazy view. While the absence of wind creates this wonderful reflection in Akokala lake it also caused the haze to stay where it was. In the end the sunset light was so bad and lacking any structure in the clouds that I decided to do a mono development on this beautiful scenery. I still kind of like it for the silence it represents - there were just four other hikers and the NPS rangers on the campsite. Along some bear pooh and tracks in the meadows near the lake.
Those were the first seven out of 100 miles we hiked in Glacier National Park.
