Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge Visits The Irish Guards on St Patrick's Day

On her first solo military engagement, HRH Catherine, The Duchess of Cambridge presented shamrocks to the 1st Battalion Irish Guards at the St Patrick’s Day Parade, Mons Barracks, Aldershot on Saturday, 17th March 2012.

The origin of the Royal gift of Shamrock dates back to the Regiment's first St Patrick's day in 1901.

The Duchess also met the Irish Guards mascot, an Irish Wolfhound called Conmael and presented him with a Shamrock. Photographer: Sergeant Steven Hughes, RLC
