Rescued Pelicans Returned to the Wild

RANSAS NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE, Tx. - Two rehabilitated brown pelicans are released into the wild near Aransas National Wildlife Refuge in Texas. The birds were apart of the largest bird release to date. The United States Coast Guard transported 62 brown pelicans and 1 northern gannet from New Orleans to Texas on Wednesday, June 23, 2010. The transport was a unified effort with the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, National Park Service, and their partners. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service photo.
