Raheen - Kew
Directly opposite the former Dalswraith mansion, in the leafy Melbourne suburb of Kew, is the beautiful Italianate mansion - Raheen. Meaning 'Little Fort' in Gaelic, Raheen was completed in 1884, and once served as the residence of the Catholic Arch Bishop of Melbourne until it was sold in 1981 and converted into a private residence. The buildings central four storey tower is a feature as is its use of red brick and cement render, which is a unique application to the Italianate style. The house is now owned by Melbourne billionaire Richard Pratt.
