Leather Hipster PDA Case from Staples

    Newer Older

At the Staples in Westlake Village, CA yesterday and found nice leather 3x5 case in the new "M by Staples" gear.

Case has 3 pockets in addition to the one's ready for writing.

Also got a thick stack of 3x5 cards with lines on one side and grid on the back. Case is $10 and the cards were $3

There's a new url for this product line: mbystaples.com - it only shows a small subset of the products (and does not show these) but does include a search engine for stores carrying the line.

And about 1/4 the price of Levenger's Shirt Pocket briefcase.

It was great to see this "in action" during our seminar yesterday. Thanks for sharing this find!

One of these days someone is gonna get smart and put together a starter GTD kit with one of these, a copy of the David Allen book, index cards, an accordion file, folders, a labeler, and a mini G2 gel or a space pen.

HA! That's almost exactly like Levenger's product.
... Except, of course, without that Levenger-leather that makes me rub it against my cheek and coo like a dove repeatedly during business meetings.

Yeah, I love my Levenger too... I have the full on Pocket Briefcase, that holds my credit cards, 3x5 cards, and pen.

Love mine. I bought in Milpitas, CA. a few weeks back and I've been using it every day for home and work. I pre-punch these with CIrca holes and when I do a review I end up attaching them into a Circa 8 1/2 x 11 notebook (about 3 per page) which keeps them in focus as tasks I need to deal with daily.

BTW, I know that most folks like to write in 'portrait' mode and yes they sell the M branded cards (Oxford sells them too) since the holder designed that way, but I tend to write more than 2 lines for every task I create using GTD methodology ( I need room for date, a checkbox icon, task description). Therefore I use mine in landscape mode with garden variety 3x5 lined cards which are cheaper and easier to find.

Only thing left for Staples M is to add a 3x5 bleacher and I'll be happy as a clam.

For holding a pen, I just use the pen's clip and attach it which is not ideal since it leaves an impression in the soft leather. If anyone knows a better solution let me know.

i have to agree that this is one of the handiest GTD tools i've found. i also found a matching journal and an accordian file holder.

I already have a Levenger but I was looking to get one of these for a friend. I can't find them ANYwhere online. What th--? Is it that new?

I've tried the online search and the stores in my area (DC) that it says carry this line don't in fact have them. Anyplace online to order?

I just lost a great leather one like this I'd used for ~ 7 years! It was by Hartmann and given out as a luncheon gift. I wonder if this one has a business card holder on the other side.

Could you post the item numbers (jotter and refills) so that I can have my local store order them for me? Thanks, --Ray.

P.S. There just a little bit too small to see in your pics.

I have this very product and I love using mine, and have told many folks (to their great amusement) that it's my "PDA" and they think it's extremely neat.

There's a Franklin wallet with the same sort of card and insert slots, PLUS pen holder and ID/credit card slots. I found it at a local Office Depot. Matched with one of those mini gel pens and its near perfect. I carry my @'s and use it for note taking and errand reminders.
