Control Freak 306/ 365
Today was a leaf raking kind of day. It was warm and there were far too many leaves to let it go any longer. I think we end up bagging about 30 or 40 bags at my house each year. So far I've done about 16. so i'm really only part way there :)
I like to actually rake. I like it for a couple reasons: I like the physical labor of it. It's kinda like exercise... today I called it cross-training. lol. And while I do NOT enjoy the blisters, I do not really mind the sore arms the next day. I also like the smell and feel of the leaves (as long as they are dry!) I like to feel them crunch in my hands or under my feat as i put them in the bag.
We have a leaf blower, but I do not like to use it. And here is why: I cannot control where the leaves are going. I do not seem to be coordinated enough to aim those leaves in the proper direction, and so it ends up taking me a lot more time than if I just rake them by hand. I am always fascinated by the lawn care guys who seem to make those leaves dance in a straight line like they are following the Pied Piper. But that dance never happens for me. So it's not that I really want to force the leaves phyically into the bag under the crushing weight of my will. It's just that I cannot see the point of the inefficiency in the blower when it takes me double the time.
I'm not really a control freak. I'm really just super into efficiency. That is different right?
