Warrnambool Philanthropic Celebrations, 26 September 2011
Deakin University recently hosted its biennial Celebrating Philanthropic Partnerships events across the Geelong, Melbourne and Warrnambool campuses, to publicly acknowledge the generosity of our supporters and the benefits that flow from a culture of giving. The celebrations provided Deakin staff and student recipients with the opportunity to personally thank their benefactors.
The Warrnambool celebration took place at the Warrnambool Campus on Monday 26 September 2011. The Warrnambool event was a great success and highlighted the importance of the Warrnambool community for Deakin. Sinclair Wilson Consultant, Mr Bill Phillpot, furthered this sentiment in his address on the night. ‘Entering into a partnership with major Warrnambool institutions is entering into a partnership with the community.’
The scene for the celebrations was set by symbols of hope, growth, partnership and strength, with images of acorns and oak trees on the invitations and program booklets, 20 young gums in the room (to be planted at the Warrnambool Campus), and inspirational student portrait canvases featuring compelling quotes on scholarship recipients’ hopes and aspirations.
