Oakland Station

    Newer Older

Digging around in the archives, I took this a few years ago. The last visit here was also the first time I was trying out film again with a Yashica Mat. The place looked different the last time, there had been motion detectors installed, which really ruined the visuals. Scenes from the movie Rent were filmed here. The station has been abandoned since the big 1989 earthquake.

@ jannx. The very same. Thanks for the link. I saw her recent show at Electric Works, and had heard of this program, but hadn't seen the program before. The show was great. (Electric Works is also just a few blocks from my home). I wonder about her comments, I'd heard that she caused quite a stir, but I'm not familiar with what she actually said.

But what a location - really lovely shot, particularly with the wide range of light.

It's nice but I don't see your wheelbarrow there. Try Alameda, maybe?

      Wow.

I always love the ways the colours of wall paint turn old when they're left to alone.

Is there any legal way to visit there? Like signing a waiver or something? I've only seen it from the outside.
