reedsport masonic cemetery
Four open acres without a whole lot to recommend them, save for one curious, chainsaw-carved statue just inside the south entrance, of an angel hovering over a couple of kids, ostensibly playing on the beach. She’s an angel, but she looks like she was carved by Edvard Munch.

Reedsport is a perfectly fine place, but it’s overshadowed by Coos Bay/North Bend just to the south a bit. It would be a fishing village, but that slot is held by Winchester Bay. The town was founded in 1852 yet not platted until 1900; consequently, its cemetery lacks much old stuff and is without white bronze or WoW stumps, both distinguishing characteristics of any good pioneer cemetery in these parts.

Directions:

In the SW corner of the intersection of Longwood Dr. and Ranch Rd. on the southern end of Reedsport and on the east side of Hwy. 101.
