myrtle creek pioneer cemetery
This 1-and-1/2-acre cemetery under a canopy of madrones is a model of preservation with a stunning new gate worth the detour alone. No longer active, it remains a well-maintained museum piece. Almost every stone show signs of vandalism, but at the same time every stone is meticulously preserved. It’s an utterly charming place to while away some time and visit some pioneer graves, with the only distraction being highway noise. An information kiosk provides highlights of some of the people buried here.

Directions:

From Hwy. 99 south of town (such as it is) Pioneer Way enters from the west. Take it. There is a regulation cemetery sign at the highway. It’s a fairly long drive up to the cemetery, but keep going. It’s scenic, one-laned, and paved.
