oak point cemetery
Two open acres on a knoll beside the Columbia, far enough away from the highway that its noise is tolerable. Most of the new stones are flat, but not exclusively so. There would be a nice view from here were it not for the trees; but what the trees do for the view, block it, they do for the sound as well. It’s not a cemetery with a lot to shout about — albeit there are some interesting monuments — but its location might protect it forever; and as it is, it’s quintessentially peaceful. Except, of course, for the distant hum of log trucks. Or as some people put it, the hum of money.

This side of the Columbia has a whole different feel than the Oregon side. Try it; you’ll like it.
