mount solo cemetery
Hardly more than an acre clinging to a ridge climbing Mt. Solo, I would imagine. This is the arch-typical pioneer cemetery, in contrast with its antiseptic neighbor Longview Memorial. Covered with a mish-mash of vegetation and not as neatly cleaned as some other Cowlitz pioneer cemeteries but punctuated by uprights, this is a user-friendly cemetery in a low-rent situation. It’s graced with two fine iron work entrance arches, and just a little work would make this a real gem. Not much can be done about the neighborhood, though, and therein lies the rub. On the other hand, proximity to the housing, low-rent though it may be, might offer some vandalism protection.
