Discarded door on Dollymount strand, Bull Island, Dublin

    Newer Older

Discarded door on Dollymount strand, Bull Island, Dublin. I knocked, but there was no on in, and someone had filled the letterbox with sand.

Update 17/11/2008 - I just sold the first print of this! It's orderable here »

Bull Island is a UNESCO protected biosphere reserve in the Northern suburbs of Dublin. It features two golf clubs, and Dollymount beach, used for kitesurfing and other outdoor activities. Wildlife includes seals and bird life.

absolutely love, love, love this shot! the clouds are fantastic, the composition is spot on - and I think the power plant (?) in the background just makes it that much more intriguing!

Are you sure this isn't a doorway into a tunnel that goes under the sea to Liverpool? I'm sure I saw a similar door on the beach there recently.

Knock knock, open wide, see what's on the other side. It's probably Dublin zoo. It always was in Bosco anyway. I found a door on Bray beach once although it looked more like the monolith from 2001.
