Last Flight of the Pave Low MH-53J #73-1652
Last flight of this awesome warbird, an MH-53J tail #73-1652 as it arrives at the Air Armament Museum at Eglin AFB, Florida following it's departure from Hurlburt Field. It was the last MH-53J assigned to Hurlburt Field. At the Air Armament Museum it will remain on permanent display.
73-1652 has quite a history.

Manufactured by Sikorsky Aircraft, Bridgeport CT and gained by the USAF on 13 Dec 1974 as an HH-53C

Jan 1975 - Feb 1976 Assigned to the 1550th Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Training Wing (Military Airlift Command), Hill AFB UT

Feb 1976 - Jun 1976Assigned to the 55th Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Squadron (MAC), Eglin AFB FL

Events while assigned to the 55th ARRS:

Nov 1978- Aircraft was part of the recovery team that was sent to Jonestown, Guyana for the recovery of the 903 American bodies in the Jim Jones incident

Oct 1979- aircraft was modified to the HH-53H configuration

Jul 1980 – 1995 Assigned to the 1st Special Operations Wing (MAC), Hurlburt Field FL

Events while assigned to the 1st SOW:
Mar 1986- aircraft was modified to the MH-53H configuration
Jul 1991- aircraft was modified to the MH-53J configuration

5 Sept 2008 - Landed at the AF Armament Museum as part of the NMUSAF inventory

03 Sept 2008 - Assigned to the AF Armament Museum as a permament static display aircraft
