moonlit night sky looking south

The last quarter moon was out and shining brightly but it did not totally obscure the stars in the night sky. Above a silhouetted Mount Taranaki lies the Milky Way Galaxy along with with the Pointer Stars in the constellation of Centaurus.

Smoke from Australia's bushfires can be seen slowly drifting from right to left above the line of trees. On some nights you can actually smell the smoke.
