Early morning Scramble (outside Winnipeg/Canada)

For our prairie city in Manitoba this a common sight in the fall. Thousands of Canada Geese

arrive. The surrounding fields of harvested wheat, barley, etc. is the attraction.

They will eat day and night. Yes, night, through the night and leave to go to water where they will spend the day and go to the fields at night. (Farmers used to set "Cannons", battery operated in the fields that periodically through the night would set off a terrible noise to frighten the Geese away.

(The Govt. of Manitoba outlawed the use of these noise makers years ago.)

Of course there are also the day eaters as well and they pass each other with the flocks coming and going.

It get so loud at times that I have to close the windows of my house when we try to sleep.

This continues until the food is gone or the weather drives them out.
