D.C. National Guard and AOI commemorate centennial of Armistice Day
The District of Columbia National Guard and the Association of the Oldest Inhabitants of D.C. host a ceremony to honor the 499 D.C. residents who gave the ultimate sacrifice during World War I and commemorate the centennial of Armistice Day, Nov. 11, 2018, at the D.C. War Memorial in Washington D.C. Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton, D.C.; Phil Mendelson, chairman, D.C. Council; Maj. Gen. William J. Walker, commanding general, D.C. National Guard and Bill Brown, president, AOI, gave remarks. The ceremony also honored those who have served or are currently serving in the U.S. armed services.
