Fenty Administration Opens New Courts at Hillcrest Recreation Center On August 3, 2009, Mayor Adrian M. Fenty and Ximena Hartsock, Acting Director of the DC Department of Parks and Recreation, joined Ward 7 residents to open the Hillcrest Recreation Center’s newly resurfaced tennis courts. The District is celebrating DC Tennis Week this week, August 1 - 9, 2009.

The new tennis courts at Hillcrest Recreation Center, located at 3100 Denver Street, SE, feature state-of-the-art Premier Court® cushioned play surfacing system. Project construction began on May 28, 2009, and was completed in just one month. Premier Court® is an all-weather cushioned sports surface, and the playing surface is made of a patented composite with a standard acrylic recreational coating. It is designed to eliminate cracking and prevent weathering. New tennis nets and fencing around the courts were also installed during the project.
