Just a quick hello - received my new camera today :)

The D800 is mighty awesome. Please have a look at the full size - i uploaded it with the maximal pixel size this time.

Look at the first comment to see how it looked out of cam. There's an unbelievable amount of detail to in the shadows. Shadow lifted with +100 in LR. It feels like the D5100/D7000 in post processing in this regards, but it's even a tad better regarding the noise in the shadows

Please note that I did not apply ANY noise reduction - not even in Lightroom

    Bin auf weitere Bilder gespannt! Ich brauche 36MP nicht aber für deine Zwecke scheint es ideal zu sein :)

    this photo really show the amazing dynamic range from nikon D800 sensor.
    would love to see some cityscape shot at the blue our with your new D800 :)

    Thanks for the test shot! The noise level is still beyond my tolerance. Guess I can't ditch my ND grads yet, maybe not until next generation of sensor. Have you tried recover highlights?
