Blue Boiler

    Newer Older

At the instigation of the infamous GarenT, I went and tried some more light painting a few nights ago. This is an old boiler house at the Quincy Mine, lit from within by some LED lights.

It is definitely different than my previous attempt, The Council of Dave.

Now I am an instigator and infamous!! gee, thanks! ;-) love the blue, I thought it was a reflection on the thumbnail! Wish it was a little darker outside and that the outside was not so perfectly lit, up, a little here and there would give some serious mystery and drama to this place!!!

Very well done DC!! Glad I am such a whip cracker around here!! LOL!! You didn't say what you thought??

      Haha, thanks all!

@GarenT24: Indeed, you have many i-adjectives! I agree, I wish that it was darker. I actually darkened the sky to the right. This was taken well after sunset, but the moon and light pollution (together with a long exposure -- nearly 90 seconds) all caused the sky to brighten up. I think that a dark, moonless night would be better. Well, you live and learn. :) (The moon and light HELPED on the other photo which I posted from that night -- the rock cars.)

way cool -- you can do a whole series on different color lights :)

@mcdeegan50: Hah! I'd like to... as it happens, I only have LED lights (a headlamp and flashlight), so blue is sort of my default. I'll have to get gels...

    10. GarenT Photography 38 months ago | reply

Yeah I have used the gels I use on my speedlights to help correct or creativly use light from flashlights before!

@dkcronkh: Thanks! I have a few more in the pipeline, but the dead laptop is holding them up. It's been a lot of fun trying things out with my flashlight and headlamp, but I need to get a flash and maybe some gels before I can do much more...
