Skifest Fire

    Newer Older

The Lovely Sarah and I volunteered at the Sisu Skifest again this year (I also volunteered last year and posted a photo for my 365 project). The race ends in the middle of Ironwood, Michigan's downtown, on streets specially covered with snow. This fire pit -- with a blazing fire -- was right in the middle of the main street!

Ironwood's my hometown..We were supposed to be there last weekend, but the snowstorm kept us away!

@mcdeegan50: Actually, it's part OF the fire pit. The pit is a big steel ring, with the sign laser-cut out of it (for air vents).

@Mojca Androjna: Yep! This is actually a fairly common thing in UP towns. We had a ski/snowboard competition in my town a few days ago, where a downhill street was covered in tons of snow, and rails installed for the jumpers!
