Magnetospheric Turbulence

Yet another moment of Auroral exuberance, above Inuvik, Northwest Territories, the other night.

I would've kept a film camera running simultaneously, but that the old Russian antique I had with me fell apart, after a few exposures, early in the game. I generally have preferred to use film, altho this digital camera is performing noticeably better in the dark than others I've tried. However, there is a definite disadvantage to digital under the Northern Lights .... After each 20 or 30 second exposure, you need to wait 20 or 30 seconds more for the camera to digest the image, before you can shoot again ... during which time you invariably lose the best moments in this fast moving, constantly metamorphosing phenomenon ... Whereas, with film, you can just keep shooting ...
