Motel Ranger

While in Norman, Oklahoma, I took my wife, daughter and granddaughter on a short road trip down the old Route 66 from Oklahoma City to El Reno. Route 66 was the main east to west road through the USA before the interstate highway was built. It was a road full of traffic, road house restaurants and diners, and tourist traps. After the interstates were built, traffic on the road virtually ceased and the businesses on the road died a slow death. There are remnants of some of the old buildings and signs along the road. This was possibly the best preserved one... The motel is still in operation and looks like a set from a sixties movie.
