A manta ray flies through the water at night while illuminated by the beams of dive lights. This was one of about a dozen shots I took with my Canon G9 in an underwater housing while on a night snorkeling trip off Kailua-Kona in Hawaii. It quickly became apparent that the low light ability of the camera just wasn't up to the task of capturing the scene sharply so I stopped taking pictures and concentrated on the spectacular sight of a couple of dozen 8-16ft fish cartwheeling in the dive lights. On my return, however, I rather liked this ghostly image of one of the mantas so here it is.
