Yosemite Valley from Tunnel View (IR)

    Newer Older

An infra-red panorama of Yosemite Valley taken from Tunnel View. In the distance, El Capitan can be seen on the left of the valley and Bridalveil Falls on the right. Half Dome is right in the centre (but you'll need to zoom in to see it).

Very smart. It's beautiful from any part of the EM spectrum!

Browsing through the images posted to the "National Parks" group and was quite pleased to take a study on this. Really wonderful post processing.

The BW rendition looks great. Especially on full screen. Almost like an infrared.
Quite a great take on what typically is a staid vista point.

      Thanks all!
I would hope it looks exactly like an infrared because it was taken with an IR camera :-)

Wonderful reminder and such a great idea. You'll know the wall just below the camera (out of shot) Trudie and I sat there and looked back. She cried quietly at such beauty.

I hope you and the family are well Dave

All well, thanks. I know how Trudie felt - Yosemite is breathtaking and, despite having seen photos for decades, the actual place is so much more impressive. While this view is stunning, the one that really took my breath away is looking over the whole valley from Glacier Point. I have panoramas from there too but they miss the mark even more than this one (even though I like them as photographs).

Ansel Adams eat your heart out! Excellent image, and one that the great man would have been proud of himself!

Thanks, Phil (though I'm not sure this is quite up to Ansel quality).

Yes, but he never did it digitally, or in HDR?

    17. DaveWilsonPhotography 33 months ago | reply

True enough but I didn't do HDR in Yosemite either since I was traveling with a purist who prohibited anything other than panorama stitching while we were there. :-)
