365 | 365 | The End

SHOW ME SOME LOVE, AND ADD LOTS OF COMMENTS AND FAVS ON THIS FINAL PHOTO OF MY 365 PROJECT. ツ

In some ways, I feel like the year has flown by. Although, some days in this project were challenging because of lack of time or lack of natural lighting.

Ironically, for the first time in 365 days, I was totally called out while taking my photo today. I had been eye-balling this "Dead End" sign on the side of the paper mill building in Westbrook. I went there to shoot this shot today, and as I was going back and forth, resetting the timer and posing, a security guy came over and asked me what my business was there.

I explained what I was doing... self portrait photography project, the last photo in the project, I wanted to incorporate the word "end" from their "dead end" sign into my photo... He bought it. But, his look definitely said "OK, weirdo... carry on... finish taking photos of your ass and move along."

"I need to remember this

So baby give me just one kiss

And let me take a long last look

Before we say good bye

Just lay your head back on the ground

And let your hair fall all around me

Offer up your best defense

But this is the end

This is the end of the innocence"

The End of the Innocence - Don Henley

I wouldn't call myself a huge Henley or Eagles fan. I guess I have all of his and their biggest hits in my iTunes. But, this song does have 5 stars in my iTunes ratings. The piano riff is unmistakably written by Bruce Hornsby with lyrics by Henley.

I'm always particularly touched by the verse that I quoted here... "I need to remember this, so baby give me just one kiss, let me take a long last look, before we say good bye." Who hasn't ever had a moment that they realized as it was happening that it would be a memorable or life-changing moment that they will always remember? And, particularly one that you know is passing quickly and will never be again.

I looked for a video that wasn't live, but only found this version. I'm pleasantly surprised at the quality. I miss the days before lip-syncing.
