A box of junk from Chuck Palahniuk
Back in October I had heard that he was accepting letters from his fans for that month, and would respond to every one. He was very specific about how things were to be sent and provided a topic for discussion: tell me about something you have accomplished this year. I went on about letting go of shit like the house and the corporate lifestyle.
He sent a box of stuff with a letter enclosed. The letter congratulated me for getting outside of the culture, and asking me what's next? It also said "Your Power Cat is Enclosed!!!" in big blue Sharpie, underlined with gold and silver markers. The box contained:

* a bunch of tinsel
* a bean bag cat

* a plastic carrot
* some birthday candles
* a star-shaped hole punch
* a name tag for Chuck Palahniuk
* chocolate cigarettes from holland
* a box of four crayons with a picture of santa holding three crayons
* a set of heart-shaped measuring spoons
* a Neurontin pen
* a photo of the cast of Fight Club signed by Chuck
* a temporary tattoo of a Chinese symbol
* a happy valentine's day pencil
* 2 packs of seeds: forget-me-nots, and herb garden
* Altoids gum
* a notepad with hearts on the cover
* a strawberry calculator
* two audio CDs of him reading some stories
* heart stickers
* a pocket knife
* a tiny pot with strawberry seeds
