LumiQuest SoftBox III Test

Camping with the kids in the Catoctin Mountains this weekend. Did some test shots of Ben with the soon-to-be-released LumiQuest SB III. (Key light had a 1/4 CTO on it.) This is SB-III off-camera (on camera left), against the ambient sunlight, with a two-stop-down (2 1/3, I think) fill from an additional, on-camera flash.

I keep coming back to this one, i just love the cross-light soft/hard on-camera fill look :D

This is one of my favorite shots in your portfolio. I, too, use a LumiQuest III on occasion, but haven't tried it with gels. Something to look forward to. Thanks.

Sorry to be a downer, but I think this photo looks very unnatural, because of the lighting. The boy looks like he should be in a night scene not a day scene.
  • David H PRO 4y

Uh .... wasn't really going for natural, dude.
  • Command Z PRO 4y

It looks cool either way. Nice job!

Great photo. Now you have me considering purchasing the Lumiquest. I'm currently using the Gary Fong Lightsphere (cloud) and overall I'm pretty happy with it but from what I've seen and heard, I'll probably get better results with a softbox, and the Lumiquest seems to fit in my budget :)
