1013 & 1023 Bristol Temple Meads 26Feb77

Very busy and posted for historical value ....... the very last day of Class 52 working was 26th February 1977 and the event was suitably marked with a double-headed special excursion, the "Western Tribute".

Running from Paddington - Swansea - Bristol - Plymouth - Paddington, the train is seen headed by 1013 "Western Ranger" and 1023 "Western Fusilier" taking the centre road through Bristol Temple Meads heading west on the next leg of their journey.

The blue exhaust seen at right is from 1010 "Western Campaigner" and 1048 "Western Lady" which are sat out of shot on Bath Road depot providing back-up. In fact these two followed the train down to Plymouth shortly afterwards.

Also of interest are the cars in the foreground - one looks to be a Ford Cortina ?
