Henna Hand with Camel in Morocco

Newer Older

After horseback riding in the Berber village of Ouigane in Morocco, my wife, kids and I stopped to play with a camel at the stable. My wife had her hand painted with henna in Marrakech a few days earlier. The camel seemed to think it looked like food. www.tribes.co.uk/ booked a great trip for us. This shot was selected for the National Geographic Daily Dozen for Week 3 in January 2008: ngm.nationalgeographic.com/ngm/yourshot/daily-dozen/daily... .

I love this picture! It reminds me of when I was married to my husband in Rabat Morocco 5 years ago. I had my hands and feet painted this way for the ceremony. It takes a couple weeks for it to wear off, and moroccan tradition is that until the ink is completely gone, that the woman does not have to do any household chores such as cooking and cleaning. :0)
