Connochaetes taurinus running

A white-bearded wildebeest running across edge of shallow Lake Makat, Ngorongoro Crater. Wildebeest or gnu are the commonest large animal in the Crater - usually 10-15,000 of them. They are resident year-round in the Crater and take no part in the Serengeti migration, though they make seasonal movements around the Crater floor.
