White-bellied Canary 111110 Serinus dorsostriatus

    Newer Older

A pair of these played hide and seek in a thorn bush for a few frustrating minutes then this bird flew down towards us, posed for a few seconds and was off. The camera was still set to compensate for the bright background of the higher shot but a reasonable image came from the worked up file.

I think this is the northern race Serinus dorsostriatus maculicollis that has the whitest belly and dusky streaks on the flanks.

Nice! Thank you for the great addition to Field Guide Birds of the World! The project has fewer than 10 photographs of this species. -- FBW Admin
