Candlestick Park in 1965, Home of the San Francisco Giants until 1999. Hall of famer Willie McCovey making the play at first base in a Sunday day game vs the Mets at the 'Stick. I shot this photo when I was fifteen and still have the negative. Leica IIIc with Kodak film.

There seem to be few shots of the park before it was modified. Those seats back in sections 32 and 34 seem almost good with the sun shining on them. Now they're about the darkest gloomiest in the place.

Sweet! I can just about smell the Gulden's mustard and see the hot dog wrappers swirling!

Excellent. Very similar to my old seats there in Lower Box 9. Of course, this was back when the Stick was a ball park and not the current monstrosity. You've even managed to capture the weather.

Wow, the Stick in its original setup (before it was enclosed and the 49ers moved in). Nice photo!!

This actually may be the Mets, not the Dodgers - looks like Yogi Berra coaching first...

it is the mets, yogi coaching 1st his uni has the logo patch on it.
it's hard to tell exactly which day it was; according to retrosheet - 4/25/65 was the largest day game crowd for a mets game at the 'stick. could have been the 2nd inning...

It's an awesome photo. Great to see Candlestick in all its pre-glitz glory of the 1960's. And number 8 sure is Yogi. We need to get back to the great hitting of the past as well as bolstering our incredible pitching with Timmy, Matt, Joanthan, Noah, and Barry. May they pitch at their best for the entire season and we'll have a good chance, especially if we can sign a power hitter.

Samuel, I'm also excited about the Giant's chances for the '09 season, the pitching rotation looks as strong as I have ever seen it, and I've been following the Giants since 1960. Barry Zito could be the key, he usually wins with 4 runs or more of run support, so one big bat in the Giant's lineup could be huge. I definitely see a playoff team this coming year.

Candlestick was a nice looking stadium ( esp for the early 60's ) before the 9er's movede there.

I am working on a book on Candlestick Park. Would you be willing to let me use this photo? Do you have any others?
