Skoda Octavia vRs in Race Blue
Czech car, English village.
The village is Hadfield, probably better known as the fictional Royston Vasey in the British TV comedy "The League of Gentlemen". And Royston Vasey was of course the real name of the comedian Roy Chubby Brown. Which begs the question "which is bluer - the RS or Roy?"
Skoda launched a limited edition of 500 in an anthracite grey colour in 2009. It had some really cool looking "individually numbered" leather seats and a new dashboard .
The Octavia (or Laura as its known in India) Mk1 in Black just rocks IMHO. Please also check out my photos of the Facelift version which looks good (with the new shaped headlights and front radiator grille).
The vRS is quite popular as a marked and unmarked police car. Probably because its fast, reliable and relatively inexpensive.
There is also a Skoda Fabia vRS / RS - it used to have a diesel engine but now has a 1.4 tsi petrol engine in the most recent version putting out about 180 bhp.
In 2011 to celebrate 10 years of the vRS Skoda took a supercharged version to Bonneville where it hit 227mph making it the fastest "forced induction" 2 litre production car. During this 10 year period I've had each of the Octavia RS models for a total of eight and a half years. For my loyalty I think they should drop the record winning car off at my house to say thanks!
Why so many views? As at 29/04/2009 amazingly this was 1/16200 skoda octavia vrs image files on Google Images and was shown near the top of all vrs searches on Google. Ironically the photo hit 10000 Flickr views the day I sold it. In December 2012 the views just virtually stopped despite it being in my "top 10" (but usually the "top 1"!) since I posted it in 2008.
I wonder if the new Skoda Rapid / Mission -L or M (??) will come with a quick motor in vRS guise when it ( allegedly ) arrives in the UK in 2012 ? Saying that at the back end of 2012 Skoda introduced the limited edition of 500 cars into the UK called the Skoda Octavia vRS BlackLine. It seems to only come with a diesel engine - so I won't be bothering thanks.
A few days ago I did see what was purporting to be spy shots of the new 2013 Skoda Octavia vrs in Autocar. With a 217 bhp TFSI motor and beautiful at the same time - drooool. Looks more Audi like to me. Looks good.
