The Half-Moon Aviator
I went flying with a friend of mine this morning. My first time ever to be on a non-commercial airplane.
We took off from Medford, Oregon airport and went to airport in Grantspass, Oregon. We hooked up with two more friends and went flying together, 4 people... 2 planes. From Grants Pass we went straight across the coastal mountain range to the Southern Oregon and Nothern California coast. We started from Cresent City, California... and flew up the coast to Gold Beach, Oregon.
Once we reached Gold Beach, we followed the Rogue River across Oregon again... to the "Wild and Scenic" part of the river. There was a Lodge in the middle of no-where... and it was only accessible by plane! or through a Jet-boat on the river. Even by plane, the entrace was very tricky! only one of the pilots could do it! luckly it was the one I was with :) hahaha
We had to fly almost a full circle around a hill in a narrow canyon and enter this meadow, through an opening between the trees that was not wider than 25 fts. Of course the meadow was not long enough to come to it any other way! trust me... That entrance SHOOK me.
Well we got there safe, and we stopped at the lodge and had lunch (HOW COOL IS THAT!) stayed for a little while, hiked around... and flew back.
The lodge was called "Half Moon Lodge".
I will post Aerial shots soon.
