North Rim Mule Ride

A scene along the North Kaibab Trail from the back of my mule Goliath.

Taking a mule ride at the Grand Canyon is something everyone should experience. That said, don't make the mistake I did, wear a bandana so you don't eat a pound of dust and bring protection for your camera. Those two items would have made it more pleasurable, but it was still a good time. Getting Goliath to pose at the right spot was just a tad tricky, but he was by far the best of the bunch. The guide made a good comparison with horses being like a race car and mules akin to a tractor. They are indeed impressive, covering the 4-5,000 foot of elevation change like it was nothing. A mule is a sterile offspring of a male donkey and a female horse
