Picnic at Monhegan

Thank you, Explore!!

Monhegan Island is a magical place about ten miles off the Maine coast. Known, loved, and painted by many artists, it still retains much of its original character. This photo was taken on the lawn of the old lighthouse that stands above the village, the 1870's Monhegan House inn, and Manana Island across the small harbor. The artists' colony is still alive and well here, and it is fascinating to walk around the island (doable in a day!) and watch painters at their easels, putting their own stamp on the vista. This is mine....
