The Darby Theatre was later called the Wendy Theatre. Located on Chester Pike near Main Street, Darby PA.

Forgot to mention that it burned down in late 1950's.

Yeah... My mother told me about the fire.
It seems everything in Darby burned down and just was never replaced.

I'm just trying to figure out actual geographic locations.

Have you ever tried the map function on your photos? It's really handy for historical pics.

I have not tried the map function but it is a good idea. Since you are familiar with Darby, The Wendy was located where Sharon Savings sits now.
You are right about Darby losing many properties to fire. It seems like there are only half the buildings standing as were even in the 1960's. I have my opinions about that. I often wonder if the merchants who made a lot of money in Darby during the "golden years" were not really committed to the town (they did not actually live there). Whatever money was made was not reinvested in keeping the buildings in good condition, updating sidewalks and facilities etc. It is as though they stripped what they could from the town and then when the going got a little tough, they quit, leaving nothing but run-down and out of date buildings and stores. The residents of Darby were left with very little.

It burned down on June 25 1959. I remember my mother taking me to see it the day after the fire, I was 4 yrs old, and the site of it scared the heck out of me!
