Freight on the Old Road at Firth-Rixon - 9097
As I hadn't got the Cemex freight decided to catch the 15:00 freight on the GCR, the 6M96, Drax to Tunstead working. It didn't turn up either but a freight I wanted as part of the composite with the GC working ambled slowly past before I left. This is the 6J94, the Hedon Road to Masbrough Freight depot working. This is EWS class 66 (66089) freight slowing for the signal at Rotherham Steel Terminal (Freight Depot) just over the Ickles bridge. Talbot Lane Methodist Church is on the left in the background as is the only block of flats in Rotherham, on Clifton Lane. One of the few old industrial concerns in Rotherham, Firth-Rixon, is on the right next to the River Don. The GC line looks in good fettle - which is reassuring and this will form the route of the new transport service from Parkgate Retail World into the centre of Sheffield.
