A not so great picture of my tasty dinner this evening. Black eyed peas, cornbread and collards are a very traditional Southern meal and comforting to boot. We ate them a good bit as a child because dried beans are cheap and only require a bit of some form of pork to flavor up and stretch out and I HATED them. It's only been as an adult that I've come to enjoy this particular childhood meal. Usually the collards would be cooked to death with some kind of pork too but I'm making a small concession to health these days.
